(Originally posted May, 2005, from a 2002 article in the Tacoma News-Tribune) - TACOMA, WA--October 2002 will mark a milestone for the small, family-operated House of Scott Funeral and Cremation Services. It will celebrate 35 years in business in Tacoma. With these 35 years have come many changes, including address, name, decor and ownership.
On May 14, 2001, L'Ray Scott, the founding father of both the House of Scott and the Scott family, died in a car accident "in the line of duty." Many people believed that the legacy would come to an end, but the caring and family atmosphere continues with L'Ray's wife, Kitty Scott, and the Scott children.
In the midst of the Hilltop community of Tacoma, the House of Scott stands as a beacon of hope for those in their time of greatest need. It is not just business within these walls. Yes, they can offer a competitive and fair price for cremations and funerals, but they also realize that sometimes a listening ear or shoulder of support is what is needed more. For as we know, people as they live their lives, preach their own funeral, but few get to tell their stories.
The House of Scott will be celebrating 35 years in business with an Open House (date and time omitted). Anyone in the area is encouraged to come by and check out the new look and meet the staff at House of Scott Funeral and Cremation Services... There is usually a pot of coffee and someone there to answer any questions you might have.
